The system

Three things on site.
Nothing else changes.

The emergency luminaires already in your ceiling stay where they are. We add a small sensor module to each, plus one low-profile hub on the wall, and the rest happens in the cloud.

01 Sensor node

Inside the fitting.

A LoRa-radio sensor module that lives behind the diffuser. Watches mains, switches the fitting to battery on a schedule, reads the lux it produces from the integrated sensor, reports up to the base on a 90-second heartbeat. Drop-in retrofit for any existing emergency luminaire.

  • 5-minute install per fitting · no rewiring
  • Reads mains presence, battery voltage, lux output
  • 90 s heartbeat; offline detection in 5 min
  • Calibration baseline per fitting (3-month cadence)

02 Base hub

On the wall.

PoE-powered hub the size of a smoke alarm. Talks LoRa to every sensor node in the building, talks Ethernet to the portal. Queues bulk commands like "calibrate all" or "test every fitting tonight at 02:00." One per building, usually; large estates run two.

  • PoE-powered · single Cat-5e drop, no mains spur
  • TDMA scheduling — up to 200 nodes per base
  • Local fallback queue if portal is unreachable
  • OTA firmware from the portal · staged rollout

03 Portal

Anywhere with a browser.

BS 5266 logbook that fills itself in. Floor plans with each fitting pinned. Per-building dashboards with green / amber / red status. The annual certificate exports as a signed PDF on the day it's due. Live status, audit history, full operator + facility-manager separation.

  • B2B and B2B2B tenant models
  • UK-hosted · LON-1 / LON-2 active-passive
  • Role-based access · technician / dispatcher / facility manager
  • Audit log retained 7 years (BS 5266 §13)

Deployment

Roughly half a day, per building.

  1. Step 01 · 1 h

    Survey

Walk the floor with the facility manager, mark each fitting, pin the floor plan in the portal.

  2. Step 02 · 2 h

    Mount base

Wall-mount the PoE hub in the comms cupboard. One Cat-5e drop. Power on, claim in the portal.

  3. Step 03 · 2–3 h

    Fit sensor nodes

5 minutes per luminaire. Drop in the sensor, scan the QR, bind it to the fitting on the floor plan.

  4. Step 04 · 30 m

    Calibrate all

Press one button. Every node runs a 30-second calibration; baselines are stored. You're done.
