Compliance,
quietly handled.

Wireless sensor nodes run your monthly emergency-light tests in the background. The portal keeps the paperwork — the BS 5266 log, the annual certificate, the lot. Stop chasing clipboards.

The deliverable

One signed PDF.
Generated on the day it's due.

Fireline exists to produce one document: the BS 5266-1 annual certificate. It contains every test that has happened in your building over the year, signed by a competent person, ready for the auditor. We make it inevitable.

  • Per-fitting rollup with pass/fail history
  • 12-month rolling test log, time-ordered
  • Signature block + technician registration ref
  • Cert-ref hash so it can't be tampered with

The kit

Three things on site.
Nothing else changes.

Your fittings stay in your ceiling. We add a small sensor module to each one, plus one PoE-powered hub on the wall. The rest happens in the cloud.

01 · Sensor node

Inside the fitting

LoRa-radio sensor module that sits behind the diffuser. Switches mains, reads lux output, reports up to the base. 5-minute retrofit on any existing fitting.

Read the spec

02 · Base hub

On the wall

PoE-powered hub, smoke-alarm-sized. Talks to every sensor in the building over LoRa. One per building. One Cat-5e drop, no mains spur required.

03 · Portal

Anywhere with a browser

Logbook that fills itself in. Floor plans with fittings pinned. Annual certificate exports as a signed PDF the day it's due. UK-hosted.

What changes

The clipboard, gone.

The standards (BS 5266-1, BS EN 50172) demand a monthly functional test and an annual full-discharge test on every fitting. They don't demand a human under each fitting with a torch and a logbook. That part was historical.

Activity Clipboard way With Fireline
Monthly functional test Half-day site visit · ladder + torch + paper logbook 03:00 · automatic · recorded
Annual full-discharge 3-hour outage · scheduled with FM · two technicians Scheduled overnight · per-fitting · alert on fail
Producing the certificate Half-day office time · transcription from logbook to PDF One click · generated from live data · signed
Spotting a failed fitting Found at the next monthly walk-through · up to 4 weeks late Alert within 90 seconds · ticket auto-opened
Annual compliance overhead
per 100-fitting building
~ 14 site-days ~ 0.5 site-days

Site-day estimates from FIA Working Group 14 industry benchmark, 2024. Fireline figure assumes one annual on-site recertification visit.

Why now

A post-Grenfell duty of care.

Since the Building Safety Act 2022, the duty-holder of every higher-risk building is personally accountable for the golden-thread of life-safety evidence — including emergency lighting compliance. Insurers are reading the same act.

The clipboard logbook was never going to scale through that. A signed paper page from three years ago doesn't prove the corridor was lit on the night of the incident; the sensor heartbeat from 02:14 BST on the night of the incident does.

Fireline gives you that heartbeat. Every fitting. Every night. Archived for the life of the installation.
